Effect on the body
The ability of ylang-ylang essential oil to regulate the level of hormones is well known, which makes it an invaluable aid in solving problems connected with the reproductive function. Has a toning action on the uterus. Eases the condition of women after a Caesarean section and helps them find calm and a sense of unity with the baby. The oil is believed to help preserve the firmness of the breasts. It has been noticed that the qualities of an antidepressant and an aphrodisiac help restore functions of a sexual nature, in particular to increase potency in men and women. The oil is used in rapid breathing (hyperpnoea) and rapid heartbeat (tachycardia). Sedative qualities help lower blood pressure. In general it has a soothing action on the nervous system, although with prolonged use the opposite effect is possible.
The antiseptic nature of the oil shows itself in counteracting intestinal infections.
