<\/p>\nWe would like to tell you a little about our solid shampoos. They are among our very first products, and some of the recipes are more than 17 years old. Under the CHYSTOTIL brand alone we currently make 10 solid shampoo recipes, and they are among our most popular products.<\/p>\n
Shampoo soap is a solid shampoo, a unique product that cleanses your hair and scalp in a completely natural and gentle way. All of our soap and shampoo soap recipes are developed for a specific skin or hair type to achieve a particular result. We do not use any soap bases when making soap or shampoo soap. Every recipe is made individually and goes through the saponification process.<\/p>\n
Shampoo soap is made with a technology slightly different from ordinary soap. During saponification the pH is adjusted so that it is lower than in ordinary soap, the amount of superfat (unsaponified oils and butters) is reduced, and the oils are saponified in parts in a specific sequence. The temperature conditions of the process and the curing time also differ. When the oils in the shampoo are saponified, we obtain sodium salts of fatty acids, various fully organic glycerins, hydrolysed proteins and many other beneficial compounds, and we leave all of this in our product.<\/p>\n
Sodium salts of fatty acids are a surfactant. This surfactant is largely what distinguishes our solid shampoo from the various liquid ones. It is a natural surfactant that cleanses the hair and skin delicately: it removes dirt but does not wash out the lipid layer completely. Our skin constantly produces sebum, in different amounts for different people. Most mass-market shampoos use cheap, aggressive petrochemical surfactants. These surfactants clean your skin and hair “perfectly”, until they squeak, but they wash away and destroy the entire lipid layer. In addition, the very small molecules of these synthetic surfactants penetrate deep into the epidermis and dermis, which increases the risk of cancer. Incidentally, the same synthetic detergents are often used for washing cars, for example.<\/p>\n
Our research has shown that after using shampoos with aggressive surfactants (for example sodium lauryl sulfate), the lipid layer on the scalp recovers in no less than 48 hours. Since many people wash their hair every day or every other day, the lipid layer never recovers. The same research with our shampoo soap showed that the lipid layer recovers fully within 4 to 8 hours.<\/p>\n
Why do many people, as mentioned above, wash their hair every 1-2 days? Because their hair quickly becomes oily and dirty. This is most often caused precisely by the use of aggressive surfactants. After the hair is washed “until it squeaks”, the lipid layer of the skin is removed completely along with the dirt. The body sees the problem and in response urgently starts to produce a huge amount of sebum to restore it. The result is oily, dirty hair by the evening or the next day. It becomes a vicious circle. On the other hand, using our solid shampoos with their delicate cleansing preserves the lipid layer, so the body does not need to produce extra sebum intensively. As a result the hair gets dirty more slowly, and many of our customers say they go 5-7 days, sometimes longer, with clean hair. Using our solid shampoos also improves the condition of the hair, making it thicker and more manageable. Depending on the recipe, they bring shine and volume, stimulate hair growth and more.<\/p>\n
We also recommend that after washing your hair with our solid shampoos you rinse it with water with lemon juice or fruit vinegar, or use any of our balms or conditioners.<\/p>\n
Please note that when switching from an ordinary liquid shampoo or from a solid shampoo with more aggressive synthetic surfactants (and such products exist), a “transition” period is possible in some cases. Because the washing component changes, the sebaceous glands need time to adjust. In most cases the skin adapts completely after the first few uses. But sometimes this period lasts longer, with a feeling that the hair is not properly washed or has a film on it. In such cases we recommend alternating our solid shampoo with your previous cleanser, giving up hair masks for a while and trying to reduce blow-drying. There are also cases when, for one reason or another, a solid shampoo does not suit you. In that situation we recommend our liquid shampoos from the “Essence of Organics” series or from our professional line, which use mild surfactants of organic origin.<\/p>\n
All our soap, including shampoo soap, is made in small batches of 8 kg of one type. After saponification it is poured into wooden moulds made of a certain type of pine, where it is cured and matures for anything from a few days to a few months. Then the large blocks are cut into smaller ones weighing 1.2-1.4 kg, in which form it is stored in the warehouse. It goes to distributors in the same form, who sell soap and shampoo soap by weight, or it is sent to distributors or directly to the customer already cut (usually 100 grams) in special breathable shipping film with a shipping label stating all the necessary information. Some recipes are available in cardboard packaging.<\/p>\n
